Following are the rules of the Critiques Corner, which are likely to be updated sporadically as new issues are addressed. Feel free to post in this thread regarding clarifications of the Critiques Corner's rules.

  • This board is for the critiquing of creative writing (whether it's one pieces, WIP Novellas/Novels et al), if you just want peoples opinions on whether they like the story or not then you should post in one of the other Fiction Boards (and please don't do both, as that is considered cross-posting, which is against the rules). That said, it does not mean you can not say you like someones story etc. at the beginning/middle/end of a critiquing post.
  • Start or end your post detailing your own 'critique' of your work, stating what you think needs work or what you are personally most worried about (e.g. a section of dialogue or an overly long paragraph).
  • As a general rule of thumb, we have no problem with stories that swear copiously (although you should state as such in the title or beginning of the thread) however graphic violence and sexuality are (for the moment) not allowed. By 'graphic violence and sexuality' I am referring to in depth detail, the kind that would give something an 18/Mature/NC-17/[insert highest censorship rating of your country here], so basicially no gore and eroticism.
  • We allow fanfiction here, but you must adhere to the rules expressed in the Regarding Fan-Fiction sticky.

As always, if in doubt consult one of the Staff.
