Perhaps they wanted to add a bit of life to the place, wouldn't blame them. Still, I have 2 weeks off work for being sick, perhaps some prose is in order....

Was it just me that saw a recent batch of spammers/bots floating around? I just had to get rid of about 5 new ad topics.

He sprinted in crying..
He could be dying…
A cough and a splutter…
A cringe and a shudder…
Appeared in a dash…
Maybe a rash??
Germs and the sick…
Go get help quick!
Kicking and screaming…
Hopelessly bleeding!
The dangerously ill…
Life almost nil…
A deadly disease!
It was only…..a sneeze

This is the only one that ticks with me, but I like it. All apart from the first line. I can't help but think there should be a comma.
He sprinted in, crying..
But that aside it's.... fun.

ps. Please also excuse the late reply and lack of ideas for names.

Just so y'all know I'm not dead. Just been reviewing my old shizzums that I've found in the hidden depths of my hard drive and thinking about starting one particular story up again. Anyone else still visit these here lands much anymore?

"Your manuscript is both original and good. But the parts that are original are not good and the parts that are good are not original."

I found Thud was the first one I read that I truly loved. But any with your Namesake in are quality merely for that reason.

Too much choice though.

Welcome back.

Not a clue what it's actually gonna be called, and damned if I know what it's about, but I wrote this just now because I was bored, it's the beginning of something I'm sure, assuming I carry on. Rip it apart.

Kenji laughed as the fireworks exploded, flames engulfing the house as screams echoed into the night. Efficiency was not his forte, it was style. Alone it stood in the night, a glowing tribute to a few fragile lives. They were going to die anyway, why not tonight? Why not now? Why not in the warmth of their own home? Though I don’t think they ever left the heating on that high.

Retiring into the forest Kenji considered his future. Was a life of killing really what he had always wanted? Yes, it was really. He had always found it a form of sharp relief, the mortality of it all. One day it would be his turn, and he would embrace it, because it is impossible to hide from death.

Sirens blared out a warning to all in the distance, naturally the story would be all over the papers, but who cared, really. Just another dead family. The world of paranoia would accept it as normal. People would go about their daily lives, knowing that they were still perfectly unsafe. This was the way the world should be. This was the way Kenji’s world was. A masterpiece.

Kenji awoke in a pitch black room. It was only three in the morning, but the excitement of the night before had left too much adrenaline running through his system to let him sleep properly. He walked to the window and gazed out at the blackness of the night.
“Beautiful.” He said to himself.

The house had been abandoned some weeks ago as the owners had fled the city after numerous terror attacks in the area. This was most convenient, as the terrorist needed somewhere to stay. He had few belongings of his own, just his clothes. Everything else he took as he needed it. Black jeans, a black shirt, a black jacket and a black fedora. He stood there in the darkness, invisible. Aside from a few beads of sweat on his dark skin, reflecting the dim light of the moon as it sank towards the ground.

Last night had been fun, but he had taken too many risks. The fireworks could probably be traced, and the store he had robbed would probably be searched. They would be on his tail soon enough, this city was no longer safe, he would move soon. But the world still felt far too safe. It was never safe, everyone knew that, but until their neighbour died with a knife in their throat and old Mrs. Jones from round the corner exploded as she went to collect her pension they would always consider the news as something that only happens to other people.

Kenji went to find himself some food from the cupboards before he set out for the day, planning what to hit next. Something for a finale, before he set his sights on pastures new. An old can of baked beans and some dried out bread for breakfast. It was something of a banquet after living off tinned tuna for the last few days. The sun warmed the air as it rose, creating a pleasant and soothing atmosphere after the terror of the night before, but no worries, the morning papers would send a chill through the city as the drones set about their days.

Kenji looked forward to reading the headlines as he left the house that morning. It was always fun to hear people discussing what they would do to the culprits if they were found as they waited for the bus. It put a smile on his face as he trundled along, giving him the satisfaction of a job well done.

Nice piece, a good twist and a pretty solid setting for the length.

Can't see anything that anyone else missed.

Got any more of that story? I quite enjoyed it...
thanks.. er, what story? i had quite a few stories posted in the old board.. all of them unfinished, of course..tehehe..
Not a clue what it was called... it was something of a journal I think. My memory is hazy when it comes to details, I just remember enjoying the tale.

You wouldn't believe how many books I've re-read because I forgot that I had read them before till half way through.

Good day, enjoy the site/madhouse. I may get round to reviewing your stories if I'm not too drunk.

And I think I may have seen you on 40kO, but I rarely go there nowadays. My profile there is somewhat different too. I think.

We took over because people like Fox used to be locked up and usually hung.

If only that were true of today. How much happier this place would be.
