1  Creative Writing / The Blackboard / Re: Land of Hope and Glory? - Shadowrun Narrative Game on: April 30, 2007, 03:48:05 pm
Blurb searched out the origins of the beams, popping off 3 round bursts in each direction. If  they didn't hit. at least they would force the goon's heads down.

Blurb scrambled for his weapon and covered the lunatic Macaulay. Though annoying, and having already lost the element of surprise, it was unwise to let him die that easily.

The point is, people in postbased RPG's will not stop arguing without GM intervention. Ever. And because such arguments quickly snowball over any actual stepos in the right direction, nothing happens anymore.

You're also supposed to move things along when they slow down with interparty bickering, and general failure to move on.

GOD-MOD TIME!

I'm frankly bored as hell with the complete and utter lack of pace this is going, so I'm officially closing of this chapter off the game.

We are now headed to the site, everybody's coming along, we know where all relevant locations are and Sildarax will now describe the situation near our target.

No-one here. He has some contacts in Europort and Groningen, but none in England.
7  Creative Writing / The Blackboard / Re: Land of Hope and Glory? - Shadowrun Narrative Game on: April 25, 2007, 10:07:45 pm
As the situation spiralled downward into chaos, Blurb sighed. Itwas risky, running with such....irrational runners, but Blurb had no choice. He needed the contacts. Perhaps let the others rush ahead and get themselves killed. He put a friendly smile on his face.

"Then let's be on our way, gents. It's impolite to keep them waiting, right?"

"Then stay behind. More money for us."

This was more about gaining contacts than money anyway, Blurb thought. He turned to the ork:

"What details can you offer? Numbers, locations, etc. etc.?"

"Payment is fair."
10  Creative Writing / The Blackboard / Re: Land of Hope and Glory? - Shadowrun Narrative Game on: April 25, 2007, 03:10:45 am
"Hello Secret. You DO know that the door is perfectly functional, right?"
11  Creative Writing / The Blackboard / Re: Land of Hope and Glory? - Shadowrun Narrative Game on: April 24, 2007, 06:10:08 pm
Blurb waved the little girl away as the by now quite befuddled ork sank deeper and deeper into confusion. It wasn't uncommon for wannabe's to follow runners to a meeting. Real runners didn't sneak around at their own meetings.

"Just ignore her. Tell us the mission and the reward, and we'll be on our way."
12  Creative Writing / The Blackboard / Re: Land of Hope and Glory? - Shadowrun Narrative Game on: April 24, 2007, 02:04:42 pm
"We don't know yet, because you had to go and halfass your pointless sneaking around. Now shut up, sit down, and listen. You annoy me already."
13  Creative Writing / The Blackboard / Re: Land of Hope and Glory? - Shadowrun Narrative Game on: April 24, 2007, 10:56:13 am
"I thought she wasn't with us. Perhaps a hobo or something. Why go through all that trouble to hide from your teammates?"
14  Creative Writing / The Blackboard / Re: Interpret this. on: April 24, 2007, 10:53:40 am
Really. I'm mad. I'm shocked.

In fact I don't believe you.

But if you insist,

DON'T MIND IF I DO!

Just a summation in the vein of what the others already did. More for the sake of completion than anything else.

Name: Blurb
Race: Human
Age: 35
Physical Appearance: 1.95mtr /6'6", short-cropped hair, lowlight eye implants (do not resemble real eyes), a pair of sunglasses to conceal them and protect against bright lights and daylight.
Bionics: Aforementioned eyes, cranial commlink.
Equipment: Aforementioned sunglasses, a worn brown leather jacket, dull green plate body armour rated against most melee and low-powered firearms (such as pistols and smg's). He has an assault rifle with scope, a versatile and capable weapon. A rather sizable combat knife.
Skills: He is an expert marksman and fair in melee.
Traits: He is prone to storming weak enemy positions and other reckless behaviour when he thinks it will succeed. He dislikes mysterious behaviour, and is straight to-the-point in all his dealings, with only the barest minimum of formalities. He is honest as long as that suits him. He does not give out his real name to any shadowrunning related business, to protect both himself and family.
History: He grew up on the edge of the disaster area in the north-west of the Netherlands, Groningen, and quickly learned that the most money was in shadowrunning. He ran with both underworld elements, governments and corporations, and gained experience and a beginning reputation as a dependable combat-oriented runner. After 10 years, he decided to head out for new markets, both for new opportunities and to avoid reprisals for previous running jobs.

Confused by the arrival of the drunk Russian and his pet drone, Blurb was distracted enough to fail to notice the arrival of their purported employer.

Blurb turned to the ork and gave him a curt nod, awaiting the job description. And then the reward description, which was more interesting anyway.

Blurb glared at the mean-spirited welcome he received from the first runner he saw. He looked unkempt, unprofessional. He had an expression of arrogant superiority. Blurb immediately disliked him. Those kind of people got their teammates killed.

The other was considerably more friendly, and looked more dependable. He introduced himself as Muninn, and offered him a nut. Blurb sat down with an audible clank from his armour.

"Thanks. I go by Blurb. Worked in the United Netherlands for over 10 years. Both sides. Where d'you both come from?"

EDIT: CLarity. Also, From the list of injuries I supposed you were scarred. No matter.

Blurb reread the little text file with the meeting point on it in his mind, seeing no correlation between it, and where he now was. A gust of wind blew through the the street, making Blurb shiver. He zipped up his jacket against the cold and proceeded on, walking around for half an hour now.

The note said to meet in an abandoned building, which was no big help. ALL the buildings were abandoned here. He sighed in frustration. This should not happen! He had earned a respectable reputation in Europort's seedy underground and the slightly less underground Groningen. And every time, directions had been clear and concise. This damned map felt more like a labyrinth than directions....

...wait a minute....

Blurb turned the map on it's end. Now the buildings matched. The big neon sign for some Saeder-Krupp product, the pileup of crashed cars, the burnedout cafe. It all seemed so obvious now! Blurb could hit himself on the head.

He hurried to the designated building, finding two people already inside.

"Hey, sorry I'm late, got a little lost back there."

How's my homeland of Dutchovia in the Shadowrun world doing?

My guy's Run-name is Blurb. He guards his reallife name very well, for privacy and security reasons.

Assassination seems nice, with an element of infiltration involved.

Is there some sort of weakness of magic to signify/justify my guy's mistrust of magic and it's users?

What kind of body armour's are available, and what kind of assault weapons? I'd like to have some balanced equipment, able to deal with a wide variety of enemies. What do you suggest?
